What a fantastic year we have had!
The children have worked so hard and grown up so much this year. All the staff are very proud of their achievements.
Yesterday, we celebrated 50 years of Farsley Farfield Infants School with a special assembly and then some activities. We played some maths games using the number 50, then completed a circuit of 50 second exercises in P.E.
We all gave Mr Little three cheers to say thank you for some fantastic P.E lessons and events in Year 2 this year. We will miss you!
Times Tables Rock Stars
We have sent home login details for a new online maths programme to support children’s times tables recall. It would be great if you could practise these over the holidays.
Today, we enjoyed the Leaver’s Assembly. It was great to celebrate the whole year and look back at all the wonderful special events and memories. The children’s highlights included skipping, Skelton Grange, Thackray Medical Museum and Florence Nightingale, the 1960’s workshop, Africa topic and World Maths day.
All the staff would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to parents and carers for their support this year and to the children for working so hard. We will miss you! Thank you so much for all the thoughtful gifts and kind words. It is much appreciated!
Have a lovely summer!
The Year 2 team.

We have enjoyed finishing our Bee books this week. We have written about how bees make honey, why bees are important and added a recipe for making honey biscuits. Finally we completed the contents, index and glossary!
We really enjoyed making the honey biscuits; they were a real success! We hope that you can follow the recipe and enjoy making these at home too.honey biscuits recipe
We have been consolidating children’s understanding of time over the last few weeks. Children have been introduced to digital time to prepare them for further learning in Year 3. Some of us are still finding this tricky!
Thank you to Year 3 staff and children for organising a lovely picnic yesterday. For those of you who missed out, here are some photos!

It was lovely to see so many parents, grandparents, carers and friends at our annual Sports Day on Wednesday. We were so proud of the children’s attitude, team spirit and behaviour. It was a lovely morning and the children had a great time. We hope you enjoyed it too.
The children really impressed us on Thursday with their maturity when they went to Key Stage 2 to meet their new teachers. They were very excited when they came back from meeting their new teachers and we hope that they are really looking forward to Year 3. Don’t forget that the Year 2/ 3 Transition Picnic is next Thursday on the KS2 field at 2pm – we are looking forward to seeing lots of you there.
We hope you have a lovely weekend!

This week we have started our mini topic on bees.
In English lessons we have started to make our own non-fiction books. So far we have designed our front covers, written an introduction, learned about the life cycle of a bee and labelled a bee. Today we had an amazing talk from Farfield’s beekeepers, Mrs Gilhooley and Mrs Laurie. The children listened well and asked some fantastic questions. Our visitors were so impressed! We also went to visit the bee hives. Next week we will continue writing some more chapters for our books.
We loved taking part in the skip-a-thon yesterday. Thank you so much for your sponsor money. We have already raised a fantastic amount for the British Heart Foundation; please send in any extra money next week.
We have also started to learn how to train like a jedi as part of the change for life campaign.
