In Maths we have been partitioning (splitting) numbers in to tens and units. Some of the children have also partitioned numbers into 100s, 10s and units. Here is a link to a fun video about partitioning.

On our Maths link page  we played game number 13 to help us practise our learning about place value.

We then moved on to partitioning the number in different ways. For example 32 = 30 + 2 and then we played with the number and found other ways to split it. 32 = 20 + 12       32 = 10 + 22       32 = 11 + 21

We also learned how to use the more than > and less than < signs.

We will be setting some games on Mathletics so that the children can practise this work. When they log in to Mathletics, these games will appear and they will need to complete these before they choose other games to play.

This weeks Mathlete of the week was James in 2H. James got the incredible score of of over 20,000 points!

There is going to be a Year 2 Mathletics club on a Tuesday evening, in the North Building. When you get the list of clubs, please do sign up. It will be lots of fun for 2F and 2H to play together!

James worked really hard to earn all his 20154 points. He was up at 6.15 am each morning and couldn’t wait until Friday assembly. I am a very proud mummy.
