Another busy week in Year 2!

We have had another busy week in Year 2. The children are really impressing us with their super attitude to learning and how well they have adapted to Year 2 expectations.

In English this week, the children have written their own alternative versions of the Little Red Hen story. They tried really hard to follow the structure of the story using their own characters and ideas. Later on in the week, we started to look at writing instructions. Today, we wrote our own instructions for making a healthy sandwich. A new learning log has come home tonight. Can you write your own set of instructions for a healthy meal?

In maths this week, we have completed our unit of work on place value. We have been practising counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and have learned how to count in 3s. We have looked for patterns and explained our reasoning. Please keep practising this important skill at home.

Next week, we move onto addition and subtraction.

In topic this week, we have learned about another famous nurse who helped the soldiers in the Crimea, Mary Seacole. We played a game, answering questions about her life.

In PE this week, we learned a new game called beanbag tic tac toe. The children loved working in teams competing against each other to be first to get three in a row!

Continuing with our ‘be healthy’ topic, we have designed and made our own food plate collages in art.

Have a great weekend!

The Year 2 team.
