Getting Ready for Year 3!
Friday 5th July | 3 comments
This week we have been thinking about getting ready for Year 3.
The children had a lovely morning yesterday meeting their new teachers and did their very best to impress their new teachers. Miss Ellis and Miss Chambers are very lucky!
You will receive some more information about moving to year 3 before we break up for the summer, detailing the junior building routines. The main things to be aware of are:
- School starts at 8.45am in the juniors. Children will need to wait on the top of the playground. The teachers will come out to welcome the children and open the doors at 8.40am.
- School finishes at 3.20. The children are collected from the playground.
- The children will need indoor shoes to change into. Most children choose black pumps.
- Children will be told which day they have PE in September. Children will need to come to school in their PE kit on that day. This includes a red school hoodie which can be purchased from the school uniform shop in Farsley.
We will be visiting the junior building again before the end of term and children will be working with a Year 3 buddy to find out more and ask any questions.
In assemblies and in class this week, we have been talking through feelings associated with change. The children have been very good at talking about their feelings and we have done our best to reassure them!
In maths this week, we have also been thinking about Year 3 by working really hard to learn times tables facts. Children have been using number lines to solve both multiplication and division questions. Please keep practising counting in 2s, 3s, 5s and 10s and answering both multiplication and division questions for these times tables. Remember to use times tables rockstars!
This week in English, we have started to make our own non-fiction books about bees. The children have written an introduction and designed an eye catching front cover. They have written information about beehives and the life cycle of a bee. We will continue to work on these next week too!
Next week we are looking forward to Sports’ Day. You should have received a letter about this which tells you which team your child is in. Please see class teachers if you need further information.
