Fizzy fun in Year 2!
Friday 4th May | 2 comments
This week in Year 2 we have been inspired by the fizzy lifting drink from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
In English lessons, we have created our own ideas bank about flying. We thought about adjectives, adverbs and similes that we could use in sentences to describe how we would feel, what we might see and what we could do when flying. We used role play to act out drinking a fizzy lifting drink like Charlie!
We then planned and started to write our own 5 part story about a character who drank a fizzy drink that made him fly.
In maths, we have been estimating and measuring capacity. Children have had fun using equipment to measure in millilitres and litres. Can you estimate and measure the capacity of some different containers at home?
We used our knowledge of capacity to invent our own fizzy lifting drinks using different flavoured cordials and sparkling water.
In our topic lesson this week, we started to learn about Fairtrade. The children used role play to find out the differences between fairtrade and non-fairtrade farmers. Children learned some facts about what the symbol means and what we can do to support fairtrade.
Here we are pretending to grow our crops!
We are really looking forward to finding out more through our workshop next week.
We have also started our SRE unit. Children will take part in lessons 2 and 3 next week.
Have a lovely bank holiday weekend,
The Year 2 Team.
