Super Shape Work in Maths

This week we have been identifying and describing 2D shapes. We have focussed our learning on reasoning and problem solving, applying our understanding of shape in different ways. Next week we will be learning more about 3D shapes.

Here we are working in groups to sort shapes according to their properties.

Here are some examples of the problem solving and reasoning activities we have been looking at:

Tinga Tinga Stories

The children have enjoyed planning and writing their own stories this week. We worked hard to create stories using the 5 part structure: Opening, Build Up, Problem, Resolution and Ending. The children have shown how creative they can be, thinking of some really original story ideas. Can your child tell you their story from memory?

2LO have been looking at human and physical features of Farsley. We sorted pictures onto a venn diagram in the classroom, then went on a short walk to see which features we could see.

2LA will be doing this next week!

World Book Day

We loved coming into school today in our PJs and enjoyed spending time listening to and sharing our favourite books. We had a great time with our buddies, working together on a scavenger hunt in the library. We had to search in different books to find examples of words, characters and story themes. e.g a duck, a king,  a happy ending.

We are looking forward to our Mosque visits next week. 2LO are going on Monday afternoon and 2LA on Wednesday. Please make sure you have returned the permission slips.

Have a great weekend.

  1. Charlie says:

    I’ve worked out the problems.

I explained the shape problems to my mum and told her about my Tinga tinga story.

It sounds like you all had a great time at World Book Day!
