Tales from Africa!
Friday 1st March | 3 comments
This week we have enjoyed watching, reviewing and discussing some Tinga Tinga Tales stories. Children have started to think about the structure of these stories. We have written descriptions of the characters at the beginning and the end of the stories to compare and have looked at the sequence of the stories when writing a retell.
If you have time this weekend, please watch some more Tinga Tinga episodes. We will be planning and writing our own stories next week and this would help the children with their ideas!
Next Friday we will be celebrating World Book Day. We will be continuing the theme of African stories so the staff will be dressing up as African animals! Children are welcome to come dressed as their favourite book character or they may wish to be African animals like us!
This morning, we have all logged onto Spelling Shed, a new website we have subscribed to. The children have practised some of the games and know how to navigate the site.
The user name and password is the same as their mathletics login.
In maths this week, we have completed our shape topic. Children should now be able to sort and describe 2D and 3D shapes. Next week we move onto learning about fractions.
In geography this week, we have been looking at maps to locate the continents and oceans of the world. We have also looked at where Farsley is and have discussed the terms human and physical features. We will continue to use this terminology when we start to look at Africa.
On Wednesday, we enjoyed learning about invasion games with Maggie from PE Partners. The children practised a variety of different passing skills as well as enjoying some fun games!
