Next week we begin our work on Cinderella. We will explore different versions of the story, some from different countries, a version were the main character is a boy and an American version called ‘Wheelchair Cinderella’ about a disabled girl. They are all brilliant stories, but we will discover that they all have a very similar sequence of events. Here are some links to Cinderella stories on line. Counting the coins.

At lunchtime the school councillors and their friends helped to pick up all the coins and then in the afternoon we began counting and bagging the money. We went through the different coins that needed to go into the money bags and how many of each we would need. We talked about the best ways to do it and then got on with the job! Soon our highest estimation of £100 was clearly going to be wrong! Over £300 in coins were placed on the Penny Path.

Maths for Pudsey.

In maths this week we had a go at estimating the length of the path and the amount of money we thought we would raise for Children in Need. At first we had estimations from 15centimetres to 10 miles! So we went outside and used the metre rulers to draw a metre on the path. We saw that 100metres was a much better estimate. We estimated that we would raise some where between £40 and £100 doing the Penny Path. We placed pennies along the metre line we had drawn and counted them – 52p. So we thought our estimate for the money at £40 was low, but that our estimate at £100 might be a bit high! What we hadn’t realised was how far the line would end up going!
