Learning more about the Sixties
Friday 24th January | 1 comment
In History, Art and English lessons this week, we have been learning even more about the sixties. We have learned more about the fashion, popular culture and everyday life. We created our own clothing designs by choosing the patterns and styles we preferred.
In Art lessons, we have been learning more about Andy Warhol and the style of ‘pop’ art that he produced in the sixties. This inspired us to create some of our own work.
In maths this week, we have been using grouping and sharing to divide by 2, 5 and 10.
We have started to make more links between multiplication and division facts by creating fact families.
2 x 5 = 10
5 x 2 = 10
10 ÷ 2 = 5
10 ÷ 5 = 2
Can you make a fact family using the numbers: 3, 5 and 15?
We have used different models and images to represent our understanding.
Can you use a bar model, number line, array or story to show your understanding of a division calculation?
Thank you to all the parents who attended the Year 2 Assessment Meeting last night. We hope you found it useful and gave you a deeper insight into end of Key Stage One assessment. Class teachers are happy to speak to any parent who was unable to make the meeting or answer any questions you may have.
Please find attached the supporting powerpoint presentation.
Tonight, the children are bringing home a maths reasoning and a reading booklet. For the maths, it would be helpful if you complete section 1 of the booklet but leave the other chapters until we have covered these concepts in class. Please feel free to complete the reading booklet at your own pace.
