Moon Adventures!

We started our week with a fantastic drama session where we acted out a journey to the moon. When we got there, we met an alien who was very upset because he had crash landed and couldn’t get home. Luckily we were able to help with the tools and rocket fuel that we had packed!

We then planned and wrote our own moon adventure stories. The children have worked so hard on this producing some fantastic stories. We have focused on choosing and spelling correct past tense verbs.

Can you change these verbs to past tense?

In topic we have learned all about Neil Armstrong, his life and his own amazing moon adventure. The children enjoyed finding out about the Apollo 11 mission in 1969. How many facts can you remember?

In maths this week we have been identifying and describing 2D shapes. We have talked about straight and curved sides, vertices (corners) and have started to identify shapes with right angles.

We also drew shapes on dotty paper and used geoboards. The following website can also be downloaded as an APP.

To consolidate this work at home, you could look for 2D shapes in the environment, play guess my shape from the examples below or complete the 2D shape section in your maths reasoning workbooks.

We really enjoyed our outdoor PE session with Mr Little this week. Children had to work together using the hoops to cross a space. What fantastic team work!

Some parents have been asking about the learning log books. We decided that because we have sent the new reading and maths workbooks home, we would not send extra learning log homework until after half term.

Thank you all for your continued support. Have a great weekend.
