I can hardly believe that it’s the beginning of the Summer Term already! We are going to have another really exciting few weeks together. Here is our calendar for the half term, so that you can see some of the things we will be learning about! Dinosaurs and Nocturnal Animals! You will see that there are lots of links to interesting websites at the side of the blog page so that you can start to find out facts already!

During the first week we will be focusing on character descriptions and we will be using another brilliant Julia Donaldson story, Tyrannosaurus Drip. This is a picture book, so many of the clues about the character can be found in the illustrations. We will be ‘painting’ a picture of the characters with our words, helping the reader to imagine what the character looks, behaves and feels like. Click on the picture below to listen to the story being read.

In Maths, we are going to continue with the work we were doing based on shopping. We will be using Mr Toffee’s sweet shop again, but this time we are going to be thinking about giving change as well as adding up the total of the shopping. Click on the link below to practise.

We will also be busy planting out the seeds that we started to grow before the holiday. Have you been looking after your sunflower plant at home? How tall is it now? We will be recording the growth of our plants over the next few weeks and hoping for sunshine to help them grow tall!

Our SEAL theme for this Half Term is ‘Relationships.’ You can see each weeks Ethos Statement on our calendar and we begin this first week with,’ I realise what I do effects how others feel.’

In our assembly this week we will be looking at a book called ‘BIG’ by Coleen Paratore and thinking about how we can work together and strive to follow our learning code.
This is a short trailer about the book.

I’m looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow and starting on the next exciting part of our learning journey together.

Ashleigh loves Mr Toffee’s Sweet Shop! Unfortunately, I have to keep reminding her that you can’t always buy things for 6p in sweet shops…..

We loved looking at your New York pictures… Made us a little green with envy!
