When we go back to school in January we will be thinking about some ‘Goals’ we would like to achieve in 2013. One of our ‘goals’ is going to be to become the better readers and to enjoy reading as many books as possible.
I have put a new page on our blog – look along the tabs at the top for the ‘Extreme Reading’ tab, or click here.
You can add reviews of the books you read in the holidays as comments and then I will add the book and you comment to our ‘Shelfari.’

What a brilliant and busy last week we had!
The performances of ‘Christmas Number One,’ were fantastic. All the narrators, actors and dancers were fabulous and the singing was superb. A huge ‘Well Done!’ to you all!
In Literacy we were working on instructions, and we had to follow instructions to make our calendars and our cards. Our cards were also full of Maths as we had to fold squares in to halves and quarters and look at the arrays on the paper.
We had lots of fun at our Christmas party, especially as Santa came to see everyone!

We have all been very busy practising and rehearsing for our performances next week. Our show is called ‘Christmas Number One’ and it tells the story of two children who go on a time travelling rocket, flying back in time to the first Christmas when baby Jesus was born in Bethlehem. The songs are lots of fun and most of them also have some Maths in the words! We have also added a few favourite traditional Christmas songs. Parents and families are invited to come and see the show next week on Tuesday at 9.30am and on Thursday at 2.00pm.

In Maths this week the children enjoyed starting their lesson with some Maths from the link below.(Click on the picture)
We continued our topic work by looking at Geometric Sculptures by George Meyrick. We had looked at some of his work when we went to Leeds Art Gallery. We thought about the 3D shapes which his work reminded us of and then made some of the shapes. Each team made a range of different shapes and then decided together how they wanted to arrange them so they could be photographed.

We have been working really hard this week writing our own versions of the Cinderella story. Everyone made up their own characters and then decided what the invitation would be for. Some characters did still go to a ball, but others went on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, ‘X-factor’, Junior Master Chef’ and some characters even got to go to places like Flamingo Land or Mount Everest! We used 2Publish to print our stories and also illustrated them. You can enjoy some of the stories in the ebook above, some of us wrote so much that the print is quite small, so click on the ‘zoom’ icon to help you read some pages.
