Join us on our learning adventures.

Going for Goals in 2014.

Thursday 2nd January | 2 comments

The new SEAL theme for this half term is ‘Going for Goals.’

Following our Farsley Farfield Learning Code encourages us to always be the best we can be. By learning about ‘Being a Great Learner,’ we know the importance of practise, learning from our mistakes and never giving up.

What we will be thinking about is what we would like to achieve by following the code.

What is your ambition? What do you dream of achieving or doing? Everyone has different aims, but we can all support  and encourage each other.

In our assembly we will look at the life of a young girl from Pakistan, Malala Yousafzai. Her ambition is to become a doctor and to achieve that she knows she needs to learn at school. Her determination to go to school, in a part of the world where girls are not encouraged to go to school, resulted in her being shot. She survived and now she is even more determined to help other girls get an education.

Watch this film (from 20seconds) and think about her determination to achieve her dream.

Here is a poster to remind you of the final words in the video about Malala.

We will also look at this video which reminds us that to achieve our goals we need to keep going and take one step at a time.

We watched this inspirational clip about Malala together. We talked about the importance of a democratic society, where everyone irrespective of: race, gender, age & religion are treated equally and with respect. We were shocked at the millions of girls who don’t have access to an education and I think it has made Eva realise just how lucky we are in the UK.
