Good morning. We hope you have had a lovely weekend. Packs have been rescheduled for pick up this morning. The English lesson today requires resources from the pack so we are going to swap the content of the meets so that you have time to gather the supporting resources. Maths resources were in the first pack.

Therefore the google meets on Monday will be as follows:

9:30 Spelling

11am Maths

1pm English

We will go back to the usual meets on Tuesday. Here is a timetable for the week.

Spellings for the Week

Please join us on Google Meet at 9.30am on Monday if you can. We will do a spelling test for words ending le and the common exception words from last week. We will introduce the spelling rules for this week and have a go at some together. The spelling this week are quite tricky so some daily practice would be useful. There is an extra activity in your pack to do later in the week.

If you can’t access the meet, the teaching slides have been added as a PDF below:

Here are the spellings for this week: We are learning spelling rules when adding suffixes to words ending e.

We often say the phrase “You can’t have an e with an i – n – g!”

When adding ing to the word make, we take off the e first.

When adding ther suffixes er and est to brave, we take off the e first.

When adding the suffix y to the word shine, we take off the e first.

There is a great activity on phonics play to help practise. There is a free login on their home screen:

Maths

For the next two weeks in maths we will be learning all about the concept of division. It would be really helpful if children could have some practical resources ready that they could use for sharing and grouping. Counters are great but you could also use bricks, lego, dried pasta shapes etc.

Monday: Make Equal Groups- Sharing (Recap)

Tuesday: Make Equal Groups- Sharing

Please join us on Google Meets at 11am if you can.

We would like children to have around 20 small objects ready to join in the lesson practically. We will be asking the children to share their objects.
