Y2 Africa morning

Thursday 29th March | 2 comments

On Wednesday we enjoyed lots of different activities to enhance our Africa topic. We had an African drumming session led by Ms Howells. The children learned how to hold and play the drums and enjoyed being conductors.

We had a very interesting talk from Mr Dalton, who shared his experiences from working on an African Game Reserve. The children loved looking at the photographs of the different animals and learned so many new and fascinating facts. Did you know that a springbok can pronk?

Mr DuPreez also came to talk to the children about his experiences growing up in South Africa. He told the children all about the animals that he found in his garden and shared other interesting facts about African animals. Did you know that baboons can start fires by throwing rocks?

We also had a special appearance from George the Tortoise and the giant African snails.

Today the children have written some amazing recounts of their experiences. They used different sentence types, time words and some children even organised their work into paragraphs.
